A few moments ago, my friends posed a curious question. “What kind of God would you be?” I had no answer then, but the thought turned in my mind for a few restless nights. I know what they meant by the question. Would you be like Apollo, Zeus, Aphrodite, and so on? That’s not what my heart interpreted. It struck a cord somewhere deep within me. What kind of God would I be? Would I be sweet, forgiving, thoughtful, or kind? Then the answer hit me.
I’d be an angry God. My actions full of hatred and vengeance. My shadows would cover their world in darkness. I’d plague their land in locusts. Their rivers and fountains would turn to blood. Their blood. Just as mine had splattered on the marble altars of their churches. Their pride and faith skinned of its flesh and fed to the powerful. I’d rain fire on their Earth and watch them burn from the head of my table, just as they had watched mine burn. I’d not spare a soul. Their children’s children shall eternally suffer, punished for the crimes of their ancestors. No living creature shall be spared from my wrath. I am an angry God, and they shall suffer.
So, what kind of God would you be? One to join me on my path of rage, or shall I crush your throne too?
